My dog chewed the wood molding around my back door, how can I fix this?
My dog chewed the wood molding around my back door, she scraped off the paint and left some deep scratches from her teeth in the wood. The wood area is not stained it is painted. I wanted to know some suggestions on what works best and what to do, but also wanted to see if wall putty could fix the shredded area and i could paint over it. If that works that would be great, but If there is a better product or way please feel free to share. Thanks for the help.
LOL My dog did the same thing. Home Depot and Lowe's each carry a bunch of wood-filler products that will work fine (I think mine was Elmers).
I applied the paste, let it set for a few minutes and then roughly shaped it to the existing trim.
After it was totally dry, I sanded it to its final shape and painted right over it. Make sure the one you get will allow it to be painted.
Sandpaper needed will probably start at 150 and go up to 400-500.
