How To Change Your Wiper Blades
Sounds like an easy one, doesn't it? But with twenty percent of all road accidents in Britain caused by poor visibility, it seems that apparently it isn't as easy as it first seems, or that us drivers are just plain lazy. Car insurers recommend that you change them at least once every 12 months; faulty wipers could earn you a £1000 fine if the police catch you, so if you think that your windscreen wipers might be impairing your vision, nip to Halfords this weekend and get yourself some new blades. You don't have to pay for the guys to fit it, save those pennies by doing it yourself. Damaged or warn wipers will cause you to fail your MOT, so make sure that you get it done immediately to save further wallet distress. The cost of new wipers is considerably less than a failed MOT for something so minor.
They are really easy to change; once you have the replacement blade, you simply just click the old one out of the ‘U' shaped holder, and slide the replacement wiper blade in. Although the garage will tell you its difficult, it is simply so you will pay them to change it on your behalf. In places like Halfords, there is a simple flip chart, so you can find the make and model of your car, and it tells you the pack number you need. This saves massive confusion when you are standing, scared in the wiper aisle!

can i make a 1 piece hockey stick into a shaft (without the blade) then put a replacement blade on it?
Yes you can but i do not recommend it. There is usually a shape difference near where the blade and shaft meet. You can either saw it off by yourself or go to a local pro shop to have them look at it and cut if off.
What is the reason you want a two piece? Because cutting a one piece and turning it into a two piece throws off the balance of the shaft making the stick worse. I suggest buying a hockey stick shaft and buying the blade and go from there. May cost a bit more cash but you can have a one piece and a two piece stick at your side.
